Marian Bell is a consultant economist, a former member of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee and a Governor of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research. Marian has worked in government at Her Majesty's Treasury and in the financial markets, where, inter alia, she established and led the global research function of the Royal Bank of Scotland's treasury and capital markets from 1991 to 2000. Marian was a founder member of the Fiscal Policy Panels of both the States of Jersey and of Guernsey and, for eight years, was on the international and European advisory councils of a leading global insurance company. She is regularly invited to comment on economic and financial affairs in the media.
Marian has degrees from the Universities of Oxford and London. In 2005 she was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to macroeconomics.
