Ian McKnight is the Chief Investment Officer of Royal Mail Pensions Trustees Limited and, having managed their 2012 transfer of assets to the UK Government, he currently oversees investments totalling c.£10 billion across three pension plans. He has 18 years' investment experience spent with Watson Wyatt (now Towers Watson), Lane, Clark & Peacock (LCP), Morgan Stanley and KPMG. During his career, Mr McKnight has advised a wide range of Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution pensions schemes on their investment strategies, implementation and governance arrangements. He notably co-designed and launched the Russell Pensions Governance Index whilst initiating an innovative diversified alternative investments framework for the Royal Mail Pension Plan, including allocations to direct absolute-return funds as well as more illiquid private markets vehicles.
