Dr Mark Cropley
Dr Mark Cropley is a Chartered Psychologist, and Professor of Health Psychology at the University of Surrey, UK. He conducts research in the area of health psychology, and he is particularly interested in how people unwind and recover from the effects of work during their leisure time. In 2008 he organised the first international workshop on ‘Recovery from Work'. The event attracted academics from across Europe and the USA. Mark has published over 100 journal articles, book chapters and conference presentations, and is the author of the popular self-help book The Off Switch: Leave on time, relax your mind but still get more done. He has acted as a guest editor for a special issue on ‘Recovery from Work' in the scientific journal Stress and Health. Current research projects focus on cognitive aspects of unwinding from work, strategies to reduce work-related rumination and fatigue; the effects of rumination and heart rate variability, and how the recovery process changes with age.
